Childrens suspense3 x 30′Finland2023
Stina, 12, suffers from lung disease and lives in the slums of Helsinki in the early 1920s. In hope of a cure Stina is sent to a sanatorium on an island in the middle of nowhere. She explores the beautiful island together with two roommates, Astrid and Christine. One night a mysterious boy shows up and tells her about a mystery in the sanatorium. When her roommate suddenly dies, Stina realises her life is in great danger. Someone is after poor children’s hearts. Stina is the only one who can stop the evilness.
The series is based on the Finnish- Swedish author Eva Frantz’s 2018 thriller for children and young people. The book won the 2019 Runeberg Junior Prize, where children themselves vote for the best book of the year. Raspberry Hill was a huge success, largely because it was – unconventionally – a scary story, and on account of the courageous way it tackled themes such as death, greed, evil and romance in an honest, non-adapted way.
