Jack’s Wish awarded Golden Film
Family film Jack’s Wish has reached the status of Golden Film for more than 100.000 tickets since the film’s release in Dutch cinemas on February 5.
Jack’s Wish is director Anne de Clercq’s first feature. The script is by Anne Barnhoorn and the film is produced by 2CFilm (NL) in co-production with Just Productions (NL) and KRO (NL). SKOOP Media Global Entertainment handle the international sales.
Jack’s Wish is about only-child Jack who has two mothers, and all he wants for his birthday is a baby brother. But he gets a giant rabbit instead. Jack’s had enough, so he dons a pair of rabbit ears and refuses to remove them until he gets a baby bro. When he finds out where he himself came from – he was ordered online – he is ecstatic. Easy! But slowly he realises it’s not so simple to put in an order for a baby brother.
The Golden/Platinum/Diamond Film Award is awarded when the number of tickets sold after a film’s release reach 100.000, 400.000, and 1.000.000 respectively. The prize is an initiative presented by the Netherlands Film Festival and the Netherlands Film Fund since 2001 and is intended to encourage the Dutch film industry and motivate the general public to go and see Dutch films. Together with the Golden Film the Dutch Screenwriter’s Association awards the Golden Pen to the screenwriter of the film.
